Greenfern is celebrating another hemp meat analogue success with the launch of the Death by FrankenChicken Pizza by Hells Pizza.
Hells recently released a twist on their cult classic ‘Death by Chicken’. The aptly named and new ‘Death by FrankenChicken’ uses Greenfern's jointly formulated hemp meat analogue that was developed in conjunction with Massey University/Riddet Institute and Sustainable Foods limited. The challenge of creating a tasty meat alternative that packs the same punch in regard to protein as the real thing is a sound achievement in itself. “It really is a wonderful thing. To offer an alternative to the usual toppings and provide another option to the masses is what it’s really about. People want choices these days and that's exactly what they have here”. Said Dan Casey, Managing Director of Greenfern Industries.
Although this pizza does come with a bacon option as a topping this can be removed or substituted for another topping. Unfortunately due to some items coming into contact with fryer oil the pizza itself cannot be classed as fully vegetarian.
This recent expansion to the Hemp meat analogue is hot on the tail of another recent foodie delight the Hemp Nuggs which are available currently at Gorilla Burger outlets and also a further expansion of the tasty creation that has been in Tank Juice Bars around the country since early this year.
“It's been a big few months for us in this space, and great to see our hemp meat substitute being used in so many different ways. We know that hemp is considered one of the most nutritionally complete food sources in the world and we are proud to be leading the way in New Zealand with products that kiwis can easily find at some of their favourite food outlets.. With the 2021 Hemp harvest all but wrapped up, look out for more of this home grown and developed food initiative in the food space soon”. says Dan Casey
