Growing hemp in New Zealand’s South Island. Greenfern’s hemp was grown to supplement animal feed and as a phytoremediation crop; cannabis is known to be one of the best soil cleaning plants on the planet. But a law change in 2018 now allows hemp seed to be grown for human consumption. This has opened up a number of other avenues that Greenfern are taking advantage of. Additionally, with the Medicinal Cannabis Scheme being developed that will enable the domestic commercial cultivation and manufacture of medicinal cannabis products, this has allowed Greenfern's therapeutic product plans to commence.
Greenfern has access to 100 hectares of land available next to the Normanby location ensuring the land needed for our operation is future-proof.
